2025 Game and Event Descriptions
INDIVIDUAL GAME DESCRIPTIONS
Back Nine: Only the net scores for the back nine will count for the game.
Blind Nine: Nine holes will be drawn at random and announced after completion of play.
The net score for the selected holes will count for the game.
Cupid’s Arrows: Cupid’s arrows will target your 14 best net scores. Only these 14 net scores will count for the game.
Easy and Difficult: Only the net score on the 5 easiest holes and the 4 most difficult holes will count for the game.
Even Holes Net: Only the net scores on even holes will count for the game.
Even Holes Gross: Only the gross scores on even holes will count for the game.
Fantastic Fours: Only net scores on the Par 4’s will count for the game.
Gold Tees: All golfers play using the Gold tees and Gold tee handicap.
Front Nine: Only the net scores for the front nine will count for the game.
Happy 4th of July: Only the net scores for the Par 3's and Par 5's will count for the game.
New Year's Bonus: Your New Year is starting with a gift. Your 3 highest scores will be removed; only your 15 best net scores will count for the game.
Odd Holes Net: Only the net scores on odd holes will count for the game.
Odd Holes Gross: Only the gross scores on the odd holes will count for the game.
O.N.E.S.: Only the net scores for the holes starting with O.N.E. and S will count for the game.
Pro’s Pick: Similar to Blind Nine except the Pro will pick the nine holes. These holes will be announced after the completion of play. The net score for the selected holes will count for the game.
Simply Golf: This is a low net game. The players with the lowest net scores for the holes within their flights will win.
Skins: Net: The player with the lowest net score recorded on a hole, within her flight, is eligible for a share of that flight’s winnings. For example, if a player scores a net two and it is the ONLY two within the flight on that hole, she will win a skin for that hole. Total winnings for each flight are divided by the number of eligible skins.
Strike Three: The three highest net scores will be removed. The remaining fifteen net will count for the game.
Stableford: Points are awarded on net scores as follows: 1 for Bogey, 2 for Par, 3 for Birdie, 4 for Eagle, etc.
Summer Solstice: The holes that begin with "s" will be removed. The remaining fourteen holes will count for the game.
Sweet Sixteen: The two highest net scores will be removed. The remaining sixteen holes will count for the game.
T’s and F’s: Only the net scores for holes beginning with T and F will count for the game.
Three Blind Mice: Three holes will be drawn at random and announced after completion play. The remaining fifteen net scores will count for the game.
Three’s Be Gone: Only the net scores on Par 4’s and 5’s will count for the game.
T.O.E.: Only the net scores for holes starting with T, O, & E will count for the game.
T’s and S’s: Only the net scores for holes starting with T and S will count for the game.
SCORING OPTIONS
Scoring options for our League Day Games and Tournaments include the following: Gross scores, Net scores, Stableford scoring, and Match Play scoring.

TWO and FOUR PERSON GAME DESCRIPTIONS
BEST BALL (2 or 4 Person)
Each player plays her own ball from tee to green. On each hole, the best net score for the team is recorded. Lowest net team score wins. For a 4 Person team, the two lowest net scores are used.
BLIND PARTNERS (2 Person Team)
Partners are drawn at the completion of play. One net ball on each hole is the team score.
CHA CHA CHA also known as WALTZ…Version A (4 Person Team)
In this version, the following format is used. One net best ball on Par 5’s, two net best balls on Par 4’s, and 3 net best balls on Par 3’s.
CHA CHA CHA also known as WALTZ…Version B (4 Person Team)
In this version, the following format is used. One net best ball on Hole #1, two net best balls on Hole #2, three net best balls on Hole #3, one net best ball on Hole #4 and continue this pattern through 18 holes.
CHAPMAN SCOTCH (2 Person Team)
Both players tee off and then hit each other’s ball on the second shot. Then, the players select the best ball of the two. The game now becomes alternate shots until the ball is holed out. Please note: if your ball was selected after the second shot, it will be your partner’s turn to hit the 3rd shot; you will hit the 4th shot etc.
CHAPMAN SCRAMBLE (2 Person Team)
Both players tee off and then hit each other’s ball for the second shot. Select the best ball after the second shot. For the remainder of the hole, both hit from the most advantageous ball position until the ball is holed. Forty percent of the team handicap is used.
LOW GROSS/LOW NET (4 Person Team)
Teams must count one gross score and one net score on each hole. The same person cannot provide the score for both gross and net. The team with the lowest gross or lowest net score for the 18 holes will win within their flight.
MATCH PLAY (2 Ball or 4 Ball)
Each player or team plays against another player or team. Each hole is won, tied, or lost based upon the net score. Points are awarded as follows: 1 for winning the hole, 1/2 for tying the hole, and 0 for losing the hole. The player or team with the highest number of points wins the match. The match can be ended at the point where the winning team cannot be caught by the opponent.
ODD COUPLE (2 Person Team)
Teams must count one net best ball for odd holes and two net balls on even holes or vice versa.
PRICKLY PEAR (2 Person Team)
Partners are assigned randomly, prior to play. One net ball on each hole is the team score.
RED, WHITE, and BLUE (4 Person Team)
Each player plays her own ball tee to green. The format is one best net ball for all red flags, two best net balls for white flags and three best net balls for blue flags.
SCRAMBLE (2 or 4 Person Team)
Each player tees off on all holes. The team then selects the best ball of the team. The location of the chosen ball is marked. All team members must play their ball within one foot of the marked spot. Each subsequent shot is made in the same manner. Usually, the number of drives required from each player is specified.
SHAMBLE (2 or 4 Person Team)
All players on the team tee off. Then the best ball of the team is selected. The location of the chosen ball is marked. All team members play their ball within one foot of the marked spot and continue to play their own ball until it is holed out. If a 4 Person team, count two net best balls of the foursome at 90% handicap. If a 2 Person team, count one net best ball of the twosome at 80% handicap.
STEP ASIDE SCRAMBLE (4 Person Team)
All players tee off; select the best ball and mark it. The three players who did not hit the drive, will hit the next shot. Again, the best ball is selected by the team. The players who did not hit the 2nd shot, will hit the third. This sequence is continued until the ball is holed. In all cases, the person whose ball is chosen, does not hit the next shot.

Club Championship
Winners will be determined by using combined gross scores from both days of play. Club Champion will be the player with the low gross score.
Del Sud
An AWGA Southern District Tournament. It is a 2-day Net Eclectic Tournament.
Cactus Flower Member-Guest
The Member-Guest is an invitational tournament. The format of the event is determined each year by the committee. The tournament is flighted and teams compete for prizes within their flight as well as for the overall Champion. Each person must have a current USGA handicap index and will play to a maximum course handicap of 40.
Member/Member
SBRWGA members compete with a partner in a two-day two-person Best Ball competition. An eight-stroke differential is applied. If there is greater than 8 strokes difference between partners the individual with the higher handicap plays down. (For example: Partner A is a 20 handicap and Partner B is a 32 handicap. Partner B would play to a 28 handicap.)
President’s Cup
Combined Low Net scores from both rounds will determine the winner.
Sadie Hawkins
A one-day two-person (one female/one male) Best Ball competition. Any SaddleBrooke Ranch resident with a current USGA handicap is eligible. The event is flighted with 40 being the maximum handicap allowed.
State Medallion
A low gross and a low net winner will be identified determined based on the best two rounds out of four qualifying rounds. To be eligible a player needs to play only two of the four rounds. The two winners will represent the SBRWGA in the state tournament.
Telegraph
An AWGA Southern District event. It is a one-day net tournament.
Updegraff Cup
Two SBRWGA teams compete for prizes. The Team Captains are selected by the Tournament Chair from past Updegraff Cup participants. The Team Captains select their teams from those members registered to play and the pairings are made by the Captains. The format for Day 1 is Four-Ball Match Play. The Day 2 format is Chapman or Pinehurst Match Play. Participants must be available to participate both days.
Winners will be determined by using combined gross scores from both days of play. Club Champion will be the player with the low gross score.
